For elections and democracy to function effectively, there must be widespread understanding of the electoral process and how to navigate it. The turnout of about 35% at Nigeria’s most recent general elections in 2019 suggests a high level of political apathy among citizens. This indicates a need to bridge the gap by explaining Nigeria’s electoral process in detail, in order to facilitate public understanding, participation, and accountability.
Under this programme, we will conduct research followed by the production of a comprehensive document title “State of the Electoral Process”. This document will explain in detail every aspect of the electoral process in Nigeria. It will serve as a public enlightenment and advocacy tool that can be used by both individuals and organisations.
