According to the World Health Organization (WHO), persons with disabilities (PWDs) constitute about 20% of the Nigerian population. However, they have largely been excluded from the electoral process in terms of both participation and representation. INEC has developed a Framework on Access and Participation of Persons with Disabilities in the Electoral Process, and has committed to providing accessible facilities, magnifying lenses, braille ballots, sign language interpreters, and sign language posters during elections. However, these facilities are not always available at polling units, which have a negative effect on PWDs.

To promote the inclusion of PWDs in the electoral process, we conduct research to identify barriers facing PWDs and how to address them, training to build the capacity of PWDs, and advocacy among key stakeholders to promote the rights of PWDs.
